Hakuna Matata
Exercise 7

On the bottom of page 2, write a letter of commitment to the Lord, to keep your eyes on the positive attributes of yourself.

Without all that worry, your time is now free to be occupied on knowing Jesus: what His word says about Him, how perfect He is, what He did for you, who we are in Him, where you are in Him, and how safe you are in Him. Suddenly, you look at your life and realize that you’re overcoming things that were a struggle for you before. You’ll hardly be able to explain how you got from point A to B because you weren’t so focused on yourself – but free to focus on Him.

Exercise 8

Go back to page 1. Ask the Lord Jesus to show and/or tell you the truth about your perceived failure. On the bottom of the page, write down what you sense, see, or hear.
An old Alaskan proverb says there are two dogs living inside you. They represent the strength of your flesh, and the strength of your spirit. The dog who will be the strongest is the one you feed. If you feed your flesh by continually look at how you fail and what you think you are, the flesh will get stronger. But if you feed your spirit with what God says you are and what He says you can do, your spirit will become stronger, and so will your ability to walk in victory!

It doesn’t matter how bad your past was: whether you grew up in poverty, whether someone raped you, whether you were abused, abandoned, neglected, ugly and clumsy, or rejected over and over again. Those are merely all the reasons Jesus had to die. Most everyone has gone through something in their life. Even those who had a good upbringing were approached by the devil at some point to plant lies in their belief system.

But the good news is that Jesus died to redeem all of that. And no one is exempt from His powerful victory on the cross. In an intimate relationship with Him, which is one of those Kingdom benefits that we don’t take enough advantage of, we can have every stain removed, every splinter taken out, and every shattered piece of our hearts made new again.

Eli said, “All that matters is what I think of you and I think you’re pretty special.” Punchinello said, “Why would I matter to You?” Eli said softly, “Because You’re mine.”
