Massage Therapy
Many people are wearing more than one hat these days. While each calendar day is still a mere 24 hours, most of us are so busy it seems like time flies whether we are having fun or not! All the various roles in which we function require energy, stamina, clear thinking, and overall good health to enjoy them. Muscles, body tissues, nerves, circulation, the balance of cerebral spinal fluid, stress responses, and more are components of body systems functioning to keep you healthy enough to do what you must, and enjoy. The imbalance of systems can take a toll on you physically, mentally, and spiritually. The parts of you are inseparable: they each affect the other parts. Massage therapy, and bodywork in general, are among the numerous health maintenance choices adopted and practiced by me and my family, and offered at WAYStation Wellness.

Massage therapy, also known as manual therapy, is the application of manual pressure applied with therapeutic touch to the soft tissues of the body to maintain or improve health. Massage therapy increases circulation, and can stimulate lymphatic movement. Specific work, like Cranial Sacral therapy can help with relief to a host of problems from headache tension to the release of emotional trauma. During a massage therapy session, blood pressure and blood sugar can become lower. As muscles and fascia are warmed, they become more pliable as tension and toxins are released. Stretching and specific work to tight muscles can result in a relaxed body and a grateful heart.

Time on the massage table, for us, has become part of my quiet time. It is sometimes a reflective time, or a time of inspiration and fresh ideas. It is relaxation for body and soul. It is healthy touch. It resolves tension in our bodies. It is like a mini-vacation. It is that needful excuse to slow down and recharge.
