Goal-Focused Counseling
In our rapidly changing world, questions and fears for tomorrow can compound with unresolved trauma, life stress, illness, and loss from our past and current circumstances. Getting prepared for new seasons sometimes require getting free from old ones. Working with root to fruit counseling tools helps resolve what can get in the way of a healthy frame of mind necessary for good healthy relationships, sound judgment, and making wise choices.
Care plans for goal focused therapy at The WAYStation are derived from strategic intake sessions, assessments for determining specific needs, and goal setting so, together, we can focus on the best ways to get you to the desired outcome of counseling & therapy.
Prices for counseling sessions are based on a sliding scale, taking your budget and economic trends into consideration. Fees are billed per session and not per hour, so we have time to accomplish steps toward goals as time is available, allowing you to leave with increased hope for resolution of what brought you to seek counseling.

Pre-Marriage/Marriage Counseling/Couple Conflict Resolution

Most people spend 4-12 years preparing for a career that they will only enjoy until they retire, but they will only invest a few days, by comparison, in a relationship that is meant to last. 80% of all counseling services usually involve marriage or couple counseling. Therefore, preparation is great insurance against a painful separation.

Individual issues that can hinder a relationship such as unresolved conflict, unforgiveness, or past emotional baggage can easily be identified and resolved if desired. This can give engaged couples a clean slate and a strong foundation upon which to build a great marriage. It can also take a struggling marriage or copule relationship to a "new beginning" with more realistic expectations and greater unity. Couples counseling at The WAYStation utilizes the Prepare-Enrich compatibility assessment tool which is tailor-made for each couple and identifies areas of strength as well as areas needing growth and development. Other tools and training are used to help couples understand needs, roles, and responsibilities; to learn how to manage stress, to communicate better, to resolve conflict more effectively, to increase intimacy, to parent more effectively, to increase understanding of money management, and more. The use of various video training sessions coupled with in-session exercises and homework keep the sessions interesting and fun! Pre-marriage and couple counseling has been successfully achieved at The WAYStation both in-house and through telehealth.
Individual Counseling
1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." We were created with distinct parts and made in the image of God. Many times, even when we know Scripture is true in our head (part of the soul), something still "feels" wrong in our heart (or spirit).
We seldom think about the controversy about the truth we read in Scripture, and the turmoil we feel inside. We say that we believe certain things, but we feel differently. Although we cannot live according to our feelings, they are indicators of what we truly believe. The beautiful part about God giving us emotions is that we get to feel what we believe. God invites, even commands, us to "enter His rest," (Hebrews chapter 4) by believing what He says about us, about our circumstances, and our future. If you KNOW truth, but do not BELIEVE truth, you will struggle trying to live the truth. Many times your beliefs are rooted in past experiences - ones that contain lies about your identity - lies that cause you to behave contrary to the Truth.
Beliefs are the key to behavior. If you change your beliefs, then your behavior and how you cope with life, can change accordingly. Belief therapy is an experiential encounter with Truth. It is healing on the inside that powerfully enables change on the outside. At The WAYStation, we use a variety of therapy tools to achieve this end. Assessments can help point to the resources and tools necessary to meet and achieve your goals for counseling.

Therefore, we offer a combination of spiritual guidance, a variety of behavioral therapies, goal-focused counseling tools and, by special permission from the State, Acudetox (ear acupuncture) to deal with the developing precursors and strongholds of addictive behavior. Ministry for Ministers & Minister's Wives - The Oasis
Having served in pastoral ministry for many years, Dr. Robertson and the entire Board of Directors, understand the challenges of the ministry family. The Oasis is a safe, confidential place for ministry leaders to talk, to identify and overcome challenges, to receive ministry, and to be recharged.
As a female chaplain, and a Pastor's wife for over thirty years, Dr. Robertson understands the challenges women are facing in ministry and can provide insight and prayer in order to meet these challenges and to move obstacles out of the path of your destiny.

Many people called into ministry have experienced painful things prior to being called. We develop compassion by what we suffer. Learning to bear up under pain and handle it maturely is a good thing, because, as ministers, we certainly experience painful things in the ministry! Ministers deal with the various personality types and maturity levels of their congregation. In so doing, we often discover that we are triggered by someone else's pain, and by this we know that there is unresolved pain in our own lives that needs to be healed. If you find that you are broken inside in a way that is negatively affecting your ministry, one of the wisest things you can do is sit down with a trusted source of help and work it out. We have been there many times ourselves. We have compassion for you. We can help.
